On Saturday, December 12th, the Florence High School Cheer Squad competed at the AIA (Arizona Interscholastic Association) State Qualifying Competition. The Gopher Cheer Squad was awarded First Place in Show Cheer, Second Place in All-Girl Stunt and Fourth Place in Pom. They also qualified for the Overall Award, which means they are eligible to earn this award at the AIA State Competition.

In order to qualify for the Overall Award category, the team must place in the top ten for all three categories (Show Cheer, All-Girl Stunt and Pom) at state qualifiers. Only four teams qualified for this award, including Florence High.

This stellar performance qualifies the team to compete at the AIA State Competition on January 23rd at Grand Canyon University. The performance times will be posted when the AIA posts the State Calendar.
This performance has also qualified the Gopher Cheer Squad to compete at the Jamz Nationals in Las Vegas, Nevada in March. More details will come as they are received.

Dr. Fuller Quote: “The Florence Gopher Cheerleaders are incredible student-athletes. Their endless list of accomplishments and banners can be seen in the FHS Gym. We wish them all the best as they compete at State and Nationals.”
