FHS Volleyball Players Earn Top Section Honors

On Monday, December 14th, Kenzie DeVries, Senior on the Florence Volleyball Team was named Division III Section VIII Player of the Year. Kenzie has been a member of the Florence High Varsity Volleyball Team for 4 years and is a leader on the team.

Three members of the Florence High School Volleyball Team, including DeVries, were announced as earning Division III Section VIII First Team Honors. Kenzie DeVries, Alexis Villalobos and Payton Cap, all Seniors at Florence High School, were star performers on the team who made it to the Quarter Finals of the State Tournament. DeVries was selected as All-Section Outside Hitter, Villalobos was chosen as All-Section Middle, and Cap earned her selection as All-Section Setter.

Coach Casey Simon said, “We are very proud of the accomplishments that Kenzie, Alex and Payton have worked towards for the last 4 seasons at FHS. It is great to see their efforts recognized! All three are certainly top players in our section and division at the state level. Kenzie had a remarkable year returning from ACL repair and after missing her Junior season. She led the Section and Division in kills her senior season. Not only are these three great volleyball players, they are exceptional young ladies that represent our school and community with great maturity and poise!”
