My name is John Trenton and I am the French teacher at Florence High School. I moved to Arizona many years ago to pursue a career in the foodservice industry and, after several years, I pursued a second bachelor’s degree at Arizona State University in French with the purpose of pursuing a PhD in French Language and Literature, which I have been doing at the University of Pittsburgh where I received my Master of Arts in French Language and Literature in 2014. My research focuses on the formation and expression of national identity in rural and urban spaces in Algerian literature of French expression. My first job after my first undergraduate degree was at a French high school and I have since interned at a radio station and worked as lecturer in France as well as spent the last summer teaching for the Pitt in Nantes study abroad program. I have been professionally teaching French since 2012 and have taught all levels and several different age groups. When I’m not teaching or working on my educational pursuits, I love spending time with my son and making artisanal breads and pizzas.
