My name is Nikki Castaneda. I am a native Arizonan and grew up in the Clifton/Morenci area. I moved to this very hot part of the state in 2002 to further my education at Arizona State University where I attained my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with a minor in English and a provisional endorsement in English as a Second Language. I continued my education at ASU where I also attained a Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction with a focus in English as a Second Language. I thought I was finished with my education but my love for learning provoked me to begin the long journey of working on my doctorate degree at University of Phoenix. My doctoral focus is educational leadership. I have completed all the coursework for my doctorate degree and am currently working on my dissertation.
This school year marks the beginning of my 12th school year in the Florence Unified School District and my fifth year at Florence High School. I started my career in FUSD first as a student teacher in 2005 at Walker Butte K-8 where I remained teaching for six additional years. I have taught a variety of classes and electives that include yearbook, physical education, Fast ForWord, reading, and writing! This year I will be teaching English 10 and English 11.
